SOMA Residence, Artist Gallery + Studio

In order to transform a historic industrial building into a combination live/work loft and ground-floor studio/gallery for the artist Klari Reis, Dumican Mosey approached the project with a combination of restoration, refurbishment and entirely new intervention. We simultaneously introduced new modern infill elements like an interior courtyard carved into the existing floor plate and an expansive upper-level roof deck while maintaining historic exterior elements of the existing facade. We brought fundamental architectural ideals of light, space, texture, materiality, and spatial flow to bear on this adaptive reuse project, creating a multi-functional multi-spatial project.
