Napa Valley Residence
Dumican Mosey was presented with the rare opportunity to design a new estate situated on fourteen acres in St. Helena, flush with Cabernet vines. Cognizant of the exceptional site and its relationship to the surrounding landscape, we set out to design a home that seamlessly harmonizes with the surrounding viticultural environment. The home is anchored by a two-story great room with pocketing glass doors that form a wall of light, while four ancillary structures branch off from this central space and extend into the bucolic landscape. We introduced a material palette that reflects our vision of a sophisticated rural aesthetic through warm layers of Portuguese and French limestone, aluminum louvered sunshades, blackened steel detailing, and Sapele wood accents. While notable in its location and scale, the home is an extension of our studio’s founding architectural principles of light, connection, and form.
