The complete renovation of this Russian Hill residence seeks to maximize the openness and livability of a compact structure. Starting with the ‘opening-up’ of the floor plan, the living space provides a continuous flow from the front door through a dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass wall to the rear and city views beyond. Natural light is also introduced to the house through a new interconnecting stair lit from above – serving to create a dynamic linkage of space and composed views at its core. In addition, a “pocket park” was developed to address the 65-foot set-back from the street, becoming an integral part of a unique entry sequence culminating with spectacular views of the Bay and Alcatraz.
